Many members have asked for ways to demonstrate support, such as donations or volunteering. There are many organizations, and we would like to recommend those that have special meaning for the board and for the membership. Please consider supporting these organizations. They are doing so much for the individuals impacted by the fire and for fire relief.
XO,

Black LA Relief & Recovery Fund
The California Black Freedom Fund and California Community Foundation have partnered to launch the Black LA Relief & Recovery Fund. This Fund will support community organizations on the ground working to meet the immediate and long-term needs of Black communities displaced by the wildfires.
Historically Black communities, especially in Altadena and Pasadena, have been hit particularly hard by this disaster. These neighborhoods, once places of promise and opportunity for middle-class Black families unable to purchase homes in other parts of Los Angeles because of racist covenants and redlining, are no longer. Communities have been lost, and homes passed down from generation to generation – part of family legacies – have been destroyed.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
FEMA does not ask for or generally accept any cash donations or volunteers for disaster response. They do encourage people who want to help to volunteer with or donate cash to reputable voluntary or charitable organizations. After a disaster, cash is often the best way to help as it provides the greatest flexibility for these reputable organizations working on the ground to purchase exactly what is needed. If you encounter someone claiming to represent FEMA and asking for donations, be careful as that is likely a scam. Government employees will never solicit money.

FEMA Disaster Resource Center
The Disaster Resource Center is open to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., daily. Residents affected by the wildfires can apply to receive assistance by submitting applications for disaster relief.
