Out of My Lane: Leveling The Playing Field For Iraqi Women

Out of My Lane is the story of my 22 months in Iraq.  My job was to help the Iraqi women take advantage of the “new economy” that was to come to Iraq with the downfall of Saddam Hussein.  I developed a program on behalf of a company that was responsible for rebuilding Iraq’s water infrastructure.   I believed that unless Iraqi women had a stake in the economy, democracy would didn’t have a chance.  My program focused on three things: help Iraqi women get jobs, training programs for women in government, and start new businesses using US government contracts.

“Imagine an enriching experience and rare opportunity to meet, learn from, and share time with a college president, a top TV or movie producer, an artist, an author, a politician, a business or philanthropic leader, to name a few. That’s the magic of The Trusteeship. Friendships and support when life has dealt you a setback are added — precious gifts.”
