The Trusteeship

Mental Health Conversations Panel

Is Public Policy on a Collision Path with Mental Health Issues? That was the topic of our evening on March 7th at Sur Restaurant in West Hollywood. Our panelists, Elise Buik, Astrid Heger and Jacqueline Seabrooks, along with moderator Abbe Land, shared their day to day realities in dealing with this disenfranchised population in their occupations in Los Angeles and surrounding counties.

The conversation covered: Mental health and suicide, Homelessness, Public policy, Prop 63 and its impact Status of available services and corresponding outcomes.

It was a great evening and we all walked away with a greater insight to the road blocks to helping those with mental illness. We also learned of the progress that is taking place in helping those who desperately need the help.

“When I joined The Trusteeship, I had spent my whole life in government service and nonprofit organizations. The Trusteeship has introduced me to previously unfamiliar worlds (corporate, military, film, international) and the wonderful women who populate them, and in the process helped me better appreciate their work and my own.”
